Sex
technology also called sextech, is technology, and technology-driven
ventures, designed to enhance, innovate and disrupt in every area of human
sexuality and human sexual
experience. The
term is associated with an advancement of the Digital Revolution from 2010 and its impact
on society and culture; at this point, Internet makes up more than 25 percent
of the world's population.[clarification needed] Mobile
communication has also become very important, as nearly 70 percent of the
world's population owns a mobile phone. This
evolution of technology in daily life and social organization has led to the
fact that the modernization of information and communication
processes has become the driving force of sociocultural evolution. While
still nascent, Sextech has seen a recent boom in mainstream acceptance, due to
a big push from female-led firms in the space. Notable individuals include
Stephanie Alys from MysteryVibe, Cindy
Gallop from MLNP, Polly Rodriguez from UnBound, Kate Moyle
from Pillow Play, Dr Kate Devlin from Goldsmiths University and journalists
including Alix Fox, Nichi Hodgson, Rebecca Newman, Gigi Engle, Bryony
Cole, Joseph Seon Kim and GirlOnTheNet.
